There are two different platform symbol sets in Harpoon II: NTDS and Stylized. Shown below is NTDS. Using Stylized will display the units as 2D aircraft, ships, missiles and so on. The symbols also have different shapes and colors. Friendlies being blue, unidentified contacts yellow, neutral green and enemies red.

This screenshot shows the scenario description and orders. Harpoon II uses Victory Conditions to determine when (or if) you have achieved your objectives and won the battle. There may be several Victory Conditions that have to be fulfilled, these may include: destroy one or more enemy units, protect friendly units, protect area, reach area, and many more.
